Blackcell Promotions has partnered with Dark Horse Digital based out of Kingston, ON to bring affordable and reliable Meshtastic enabled nodes to the people. We are currently working through inventory and are working through our Version 2 developments (new cases, antenna upgrades, battery sizes) but we wanted to be sure to bring what’s available to you – the community – as meshtastic units are more and more popular with teams and large events.
what is Meshtastic?
Meshtastic is an open-source, decentralized, mesh network project that uses LoRa radios for long-range, off-grid communication, enabling users to send text messages, GPS locations, and potentially voice messages in areas without reliable or existing communication infrastructure.
We primarily use these units alongside the ATAK app (iTAK is the apple version of the application – although stripped down), to provide an easier all in one display that provides not only the communications but also an AO map, allowing us as well as anyone within our team channel to not only communicate with us, but show us where they all are (all active units) all by using our LoRA devices.
For ATAK (android) The set up for ATAK takes a little work and will require adding an additional app to your phone, follow these instructions and you should be good to go (if you are having an issue, please feel free to reach out to us and we can walk you through the set up as much as we can).
